The Victorian State Disability Plan

Summary
The Victorian state disability plan 2013-2016 outlines the Victorian Government's approach to reducing the barriers faced by people with a disability to accessing education, employment and other services within the community. Our plan is about improving public spaces, planning, transport and the justice system, to make Victoria a welcoming and accessible place, not just for people with a disability, but for all Victorians.

Outlining the Victorian Government's approach to reducing the barriers faced by people with a disability.

On 19 December 2012, the Minister for Community Services announced the release of the Victorian state disability plan 2013–2016. The plan is one of a suite of three documents:

  • Victorian state disability plan 2013–2016
  • Victorian state disability plan: implementation plan 2013 and 2014
  • The Companion document to the Victorian state disability plan 2013–2016.

The development of the Victorian state disability plan 2013–2016 followed the release of a draft Victorian state disability plan 2013–2016 and a consultation process that included forums for people with a disability, their families and carers, local government, disability service providers, advocacy groups, focus groups and written submissions. We heard from over 500 people and agencies about what they considered the priorities to be and we have worked with departments to finalise the plan and identify actions that respond to the things you thought were most important.

Victorian state disability plan 2013 - 2016

The implementation plans contain the actions that will be taken in each two-year period of the Victorian state disability plan 2013–2016. The first implementation plan will run from 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2014. At the end of the first plan, the second implementation plan will be released and will cover the years 2015 and 2016. Renewing the implementation plans every two years gives us flexibility to respond to changing needs and to the results of monitoring.

Victorian state disability plan 2013–2016: companion document

The companion document provides the context for the plan. It maps the relationships between this plan and other government policies, gives a statistical snapshot of Victorians with a disability, their families and carers, and summarises the results of our consultations on the draft plan.
